We will have one of our members present for our April meeting – Frances Rice-Ferrand – to share her journey into quilting.
Frances grew up in the San Fernando Valley and attended Sun Valley Jr. High and Polytechnic High School in Sun Valley. She has been sewing since she was a young girl. Her mom made her clothes, but Frances wanted to make them herself. She was so prolific that her home economics teacher was always finding new projects for her. She even made her wedding dress! Once at a PTA meeting, she was talking to another gal about sewing who asked Frances if she quilted. Frances responded, “What’s that?” And that was the beginning of her journey into quilting. She went to nursing school after high school and still works part time as an RN. She and her quilting group are always creating new things to donate to others. We are honored to have her in our association and share her journey with us.
