Pam Holland, our February 2021 virtual speaker, known internationally for her creativity, ‘comes’ to us from Australia. A textile journey has been Pam Holland’s career for the past 60 years, which has imparted her lifetime appreciation of fabrics from all countries and all walks of life. Pam is now working with her three sisters to design fabric and beautiful garments. For 25 years, Pam has traveled the world teaching. Over the past ten years, her focus shifted to studying textiles in their purest form, from the cotton fields of India to the remote villages of Guatemala, Thailand, Morocco, Mexico and Africa and sharing her research with students. It’s been a journey of study from weaving, dyeing and printing, to sitting in a mud hut in the deserts of India and joining women to create day to day textile masterpieces to feed their families and supplement their income. For Pam, fabric communicates messages and ideas through her art quilts, and is a picture into one’s soul.
